Bigfork is a renaissance town, an eclectic mixture of old and new, and home to a variety of art, music and theatre. Located on the Northeast shore of Flathead Lake, Bigfork has a western style downtown area that is jam packed with galleries, excellent restaurants and unique taverns. One of the best known reparatory theatre companies calls Bigfork home and performs a variety of plays that can be enjoyed throughout the summer season. The famous 'wild mile' of the Swan River, a constant class IV+ rapid section, cups the eastern side of town and visitors can enjoy watching daring kayakers battle their way down the violent whitewater and play in its spectacular waves. The Swan calms quickly as it enters a serene cove on the western side of town, creating a fabulous natural marina and safe harbor for all sorts of watercraft. Visitors can base themselves from Bigfork and enjoy all kinds of recreational options including boating, hiking in the fabulous Jewel Basin, golfing on world class greens, and fishing on both the lively Swan River or deep lake fishing for trophy trout on Flathead Lake.
