Description
The Locsha River is packed with thrilling whitewater as it descends from the Bitterroot Mountains on the Continental Divide to become the tranquil Clearwater of northwestern Idaho. Over 40 rapids with fear-inspiring names like Grim Reaper, Ten Pin Alley, and Bloody Mary will keep paddlers on their toes, as they follow US 12 through the cool cedars of Clearwater National Forest.
Easy access to the highway allows for a wide variety of trip options, and the amount of run-off in each season can vary the experience of rafting the Locsha considerably from month to month and year to year. The two nearest large communities are Grangeville to the west and Missoula (MT) to the east.
