 Getting There

Yellowstone National Park can be accessed from the east via I-90 to state route fourteen through Cody. From the south, visitors that are in the Jackson Hole area can access Yellowstone by driving northward through Grand Teton National Park on state route 191/287. Visitors traveling from Montana can access the park year-round by going south from Bozeman by route 191/287 through West Yellowstone. Another route from Montana available during the summer months only is by way of Red Lodge via the Beartooth Highway through Cooke City and the Silver Spur gate. For visitors considering flying to the park, a small airport in West Yellowstone caters to seasonal flights on at least one national carrier. Visitors should keep in mind that Yellowstone's roads become congested quickly during peak hours mid-summer and wildlife sightings of any sort will bring traffic to a stand-still.
