This stretch of Big Sur River in Monterey County is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II+ section. The campgrounds here at Big Sur River are pretty good. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The average California whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so they are not for beginners. This is the only paddling stretch along Big Sur River.
