Located high on the slopes of the Schell Creek Range in the middle of an Alder, Pinyon and Juniper forest Bird Creek offers a wide range of recreation opportunities to the forest visitor. Bird Creek, a perennial stream, runs directly through the picnic area and many birds make it their home during the spring and summer seasons.

Drive five miles north of McGill on US 93.
Turn on State road 486 (watch for signs saying Duck Creek).
Drive 6 miles east on this paved road.
Turn at the Bird Creek Picnic Area, Forest road 426, and drive two-and-a-half miles east on the dirt road.
