Description
This little gem of a lake is well known for good cutthroat trout fishing. It is about a 3-mile hike to get to the lake, but the trail is scenic and none too steep. Lupine Lake is rather tough to fish from shore (brushy) but ideal for a float tube. The lake is about 20 acres in size and the fish are easy-going and interested in most flies presented.

Basic Directions
To access Lupine Lake, you can drive north from Marion on the Griffin Creek road (road 538) about 9 miles past Little Bitterroot Lake or approach it from Star Meadows (about 11 miles after the turn off on to Griffin Road). There is a small parking area and a sign that marks the trailhead. You can hike or bike the Lupine Lake trail (Trail No. 210). The trail passes near the spectacular Griffin Creek falls, then crosses the stream and gradually ascends up Ashley Mountain to the lake.
