Dillon is Montana's southwestern border town, located along the I-15 corridor, and there are a vast array of important historical sites and recreational opportunity within a short drive of this town.
Dillon is a definitive mix of old and new philosophies, serving as both the center for the well established ranch and farm community for the area and also as home to Western State University, the third largest in the Montana university system which keeps Dillon stocked with a good number of young and active residents. The local businesses of Dillon reflect this juxtaposition well, and visitors will find kitschy bread shops and outdoor stores nestled between wild west style saloons and ranch and tack shops.
Dillon is best known for the amazing amount of blue ribbon trout streams that surround it, but visitors will discover that the area is also brimming with Native American and Frontier history, (it located along the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery trail and the Nez Perce Nee Me Po trail) and is in the heart of an area that was a highly lucrative gold mining deposits in the late 1800's.
