Below you will find helpful information about Flathead Lake.
Overview
Flathead Lake can be reached from a variety of different routes; from the South by heading up 93 north from Missoula to Polson (at 3300 pop, the largest town on the lake), from the North on its eastern flank on Highway 50 through Bigfork and on its western flank on Highway 93 through Kalispell. There are a great number of lodging and restaurant options all around the lake, though the majority of finer dining options can be found lakeside in Bigfork, Somers and Polson. Keep in mind that the town of Polson and much of the land that surrounds it towards the south are part of the Kootenai/Salish Flathead Indian Reservation and Tribal permits (separate from Montana State permits) are required to recreate (ie. hike, hunt and fish) within these areas.
